From then on, the bikini exploded into the 50s and became very popular. Girls would get a lot of public scrutiny and accusations of the morality of it all were in the headlines. Nonetheless, the girls trucked it through into the 1960s and younger girls picked it up for the extra male attention it provides them.

When did the bikini become so big?

Well, it just so happened that the Miss World Contest way back in the early 50s featured girls in micro bikinis. It wasn’t tolerated very long and they had bad press all over them so they initiated a ban. In the later half of the 50s tons of movies started being made with girls in a bikini which made it even more popular

Through the 60s and 70s, hot bikini girls started popping up all over. Arnold Schwarzenegger and the bodybuilders were also working the male side and had all those big body builders wearing bikini like trunks, called the speedo.
